Project Manager / Estimator Job in Southeast Michigan

Local road, paving, concrete, and infrastructure projects

An established Michigan road and infrastructure contractor is hiring a Project Manager / Estimator due to backlog growth and leadership needs.

This role is built for a construction professional with experience in municipal road work, self-perform concrete, asphalt paving, HMA, underground utilities, and union field environments. The work is primarily local and regional across Southeast Michigan.

Project Manager Responsibilities

• Lead municipal road and infrastructure construction projects
• Manage budgets, schedules, subcontractors, and field teams
• Coordinate with municipalities, engineers, inspectors, and union trades
• Track production, cost control, project documentation, and profitability
• Support safety, quality, and union compliance across active projects
• Drive project execution from preconstruction through closeout

Estimator Responsibilities

• Prepare cost estimates for municipal road, paving, concrete, and utility work
• Review plans, specifications, quantities, and scopes of work
• Build takeoffs for self-perform concrete, asphalt, and underground utilities
• Coordinate with operations and field leadership during bid planning
• Support bid strategy, vendor pricing, subcontractor input, and final proposal review

Required Background

• Experience in municipal road construction
• Background in self-perform concrete, including roads, bridges, or flatwork
• Underground utilities experience
• Asphalt or HMA experience preferred
• Union construction environment experience strongly preferred
• Ability to work in Southeast Michigan municipal construction markets

Preferred Experience

• 7+ years of relevant construction experience
• Airport paving, mainline paving, or site development experience
• Background with union road-building contractors
• Experience with asphalt paving, concrete, or underground utility contractors
