Shop Manager ~ Heavy Equipment / Fleet Operations ~ Metro Detroit
The Birmingham Group is partnering with an established Michigan-based road and infrastructure contractor seeking a Shop Manager with a strong background in heavy equipment and fleet operations.
This role is responsible for overseeing shop operations, coordinating equipment maintenance, and managing mechanics supporting a large fleet of construction equipment. The ideal candidate understands the demands of civil construction operations and has experience managing equipment critical to road, utility, paving, and infrastructure projects.

Qualifications
- Strong background in heavy equipment maintenance and fleet management
- Experience managing mechanics within a civil contractor or infrastructure construction environment
- Understanding of construction equipment operations and maintenance planning
- Ability to manage shop operations, priorities, and multiple equipment needs simultaneously
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills

- Civil contractor equipment shop experience
- Heavy equipment fleet management
- Road construction or infrastructure contractor experience
- Experience supporting paving, concrete, utility, or site development operations
