Site Safety & Health Officer (SSHO) ~ USACE Heavy Civil

Company: $20M+ Heavy Civil Contractor
Sector: Utility Infrastructure / Federal & Public Projects

Mid-sized, family-owned and well respected  general contractor in the Metro NYC area  currently seeking a Site Safety & Health Officer (SSHO) with U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) project experience.

This role is critical to maintaining compliance, safety leadership, and risk management on heavy civil construction projects operating under USACE standards. The right professional understands the strict safety requirements of federal work and can ensure projects operate safely while meeting EM 385-1-1 standards and federal safety protocols.

If you have strong heavy civil safety experience and are comfortable managing safety documentation and field compliance on complex projects, this is an opportunity to take a leadership role on high-visibility work.

Candidate Must-Haves

  • 5+ years of heavy civil construction safety experience
  • Minimum 2+ years working on USACE projects
  • Deep understanding of EM 385-1-1 safety requirements
  • Experience developing and maintaining APP, HASP, and HWAZP documentation
  • Strong jobsite leadership and ability to enforce safety standards in the field
