In August 2024, Michigan residents headed to the polls for the primary election, with voters in 15 school districts deciding on local improvement measures. If all proposed measures pass, they would collectively add over $517 million in construction-related projects to the state.
Southeast Michigan Proposals
Oakland County: Avondale School District seeks a $150 million bond with French as the architect. The plan includes building and equipping a new early childhood center, expanding an elementary school, and modernizing various school spaces such as instructional areas, fine arts, theater spaces, playgrounds, and other facilities.
Washtenaw County: Whitmore Lake Public Schools proposes a $53.5 million bond with Kingscott as the architect. This proposal covers constructing an addition to a school building, remodeling, enhancing security, upgrading furnishings and equipment, installing instructional technology, and improving playgrounds, athletic fields, parking areas, driveways, sidewalks, and other related sites.
Lapeer County: Almont Community Schools has two proposals totaling $32.73 million, with French as the architect. The projects include building and equipping high school additions, remodeling and upgrading existing buildings, developing playgrounds and athletic fields, and constructing an addition to the primary school building.
Monroe County: Whiteford Agricultural School District has two proposals totaling $10 million, with The Collaborative Inc. as the architect. These proposals involve additions and improvements to Whiteford Elementary School and enhancing athletic fields, including installing synthetic turf for baseball and softball fields.
Mid-Michigan Area Proposals
Ingham County: Williamston Community Schools proposes a $38.5 million bond with French as the architect. The project involves remodeling school buildings, adding new structures, and improving athletic fields, playgrounds, and facilities.
Montcalm County: Central Montcalm Public Schools seeks a $33.2 million bond with GMB as the architect. This includes remodeling, furnishing, and equipping school buildings, adding new facilities to the middle/high school, and enhancing instructional technology and athletic fields.
Isabella County: Shepherd Public School District proposes a $25 million bond with Kingscott as the architect. The plan includes remodeling and updating district-owned buildings, acquiring instructional technology, and developing athletic fields and playgrounds.
Saginaw County: Chesaning Union Schools seeks a $14 million bond with French as the architect. The project involves remodeling buildings, upgrading HVAC systems, adding to a support building, and improving athletic fields and related infrastructure.
Osceola County: Pine River Area Schools proposes a $4.5 million bond with Integrated Designs, Inc. as the architect. This includes remodeling for improved HVAC systems, enhancing instructional technology, and upgrading athletic facilities.
West Michigan Proposals
Ottawa County: Allendale Public School District seeks an $88.27 million bond with TMP as the architect. The project involves constructing and upgrading school buildings, improving security, building a field house, and enhancing playgrounds and athletic facilities.
Newaygo County: White Cloud Public Schools proposes a $28.4 million bond with Pure Architecture & Development as the architect. This includes constructing, remodeling, and equipping school buildings and facilities, along with improving athletic fields and playgrounds.
Berrien County: Eau Claire Public Schools seeks a $7.8 million bond with Tower Pinkster as the architect. The plan involves remodeling and refurnishing school buildings and installing instructional equipment.
Northern Michigan Proposals
Cheboygan County: Cheboygan Area Schools proposes a $22.2 million bond with SitelogIQ as the architect. The project includes remodeling and upgrading buildings, constructing additions, and enhancing athletic facilities and playgrounds.
Houghton County: Adams Township School District seeks a $5.9 million bond with UP Engineers & Architects as the architect. The proposal involves building additions, upgrading existing buildings, and improving instructional technology and site development.
Antrim County: Alba Public Schools proposes a $3.25 million bond with Anthony Essen as the architect. The plan includes constructing a secure entryway addition, partially remodeling the school, and improving the surrounding site.
