Lead Architectural Designer ~ Construction Job Opportunity~ Metro Detroit

Position Overview:
They are seeking a highly experienced and dynamic Lead Architectural Designer to oversee our entire design division. This individual will play a pivotal role in shaping the design direction of their luxury custom home projects. The ideal candidate is an accomplished designer with extensive experience in high-end residential architecture, a strong leader who can effectively manage teams, and a client-focused professional with a solutions-oriented mindset.
Key Responsibilities:

Lead the design division, overseeing architectural and interior design.

Manage the full architectural design process, from schematic design and design development to construction documentation.

Work closely with clients to understand their vision, preferences, and functional needs, ensuring a seamless and enjoyable design experience.

Collaborate with civil engineers and landscaping designers to develop site plans that align with client goals, budget and zoning requirements.

Identify and present opportunities for clients to enhance their homes with additional features and amenities, increasing project value and generating additional revenue for the company.

Guide clients through the selection of exterior materials, ensuring aesthetic cohesion, construction feasibility and striking curb appeal.

Discuss and integrate critical infrastructure elements such as insulation options, heating and cooling systems, plumbing service, electrical plans, and home automation within the design process.

Oversee and mentor a team including an architect dedicated to construction drawings, as well as the interior design team.

Ensure that all design work aligns with industry best practices, building codes, and company standards.

Work closely with VP of Construction, construction project managers and purchasing teams to ensure smooth project execution.

Stay updated on architectural trends, materials, and technologies relevant to luxury home construction.

Represent the company in meetings, industry events, and client presentations.
Qualifications:
-
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Architecture or a related field.

8+ years of experience in high-end custom home design.

Proven leadership and team management experience.

Strong proficiency in architectural and design software (AutoCAD, SketchUp, Photoshop, etc.).

Excellent client relationship management skills, with the ability to communicate effectively and present ideas confidently.

Deep understanding of materials, construction methods, and building systems related to luxury home design.

Strong ability to persuade clients on additional design elements, premium materials, and innovative features that enhance the home’s value and increase company profitability.

Ability to manage multiple projects while maintaining a high level of detail and creativity.
